Three years after the underground scene cheered at the release of our debut album "Shrouded In Mystery" we have finally been able to complete - after almost one year of work - our second album "Perishing Black Light" in october 2000.

ENCRYPTION was founded (with second guitarist Manfred Herzog) in beginning 1995. In order to optimize our ensemble playing, we started with rehearsing coversongs. In september 1996 there was enough self-composed material to release a demo tape ("The Cryptogram"). As we expected, most reactions were not euphoric, but the benevolent reviews motivated us to invest even more work in the improvement of our songs.

The result of our work could be heard in autumn 1997. Our debut album "Shrouded In Mystery" should cause a big stir among the underground fanzines and some established magazines for the following two years. Besides the excellent reviews (which can be found at our homepage), one of the peaks so far was taking part in the Iron Saviour-support-competition which was organized by the German Rock Hard magazine - although we eventually took (only) second place among the support bands.

In beginning october 1999 we had written enough songs for the "Shrouded In Mystery"-successor, so we entered once more the Perfect Sound Producing studio in Uehlfeld. There we worked and recorded from october to december. It took this rather long period of time (for an underground band), because most of the time, we couldn't record the whole day (some days we even couldn't record at all); nevertheless, the recording itself went very well, thus we confidently reckoned with a release in spring 2000.

As it is with some of the "big" bands, however, the release date had to be postponed several times: Our search for a label proved much more lengthy than expected; even after almost daily phone-terror, first reactions of labels took months and unfortunately didn't result in the success we had hoped for. Additionally, we parted with our second guitarist and founding member Manfred Herzog and had to invest time in the search for a new guitarist. And eventually, designing the artwork for cover and booklet took much more time than we had expected, too.

But it takes time to do a thing well; thus, we are 100% satisfied with our second CD "Perishing Black Light", and other things also seem to improve: we have found an excellent new guitarist, Stefan Muller, so we will be able to play live again more frequently.

Those who know our debut CD will easily recognize our trademarks on "Perishing Black Light": powerful doublebass-drums, endless twin guitars, intelligent bass-playing, variable & original vocals and varied & thought-out song structures; in short: fast melodic power thrash metal by ENCRYPTION - maybe a bit more complex, faster & more varied than in the past, with heavily improved harmonic vocal lines/choirs and with even longer songs, but still unmistakable.
